Podcasts

I really wish that I had the time and technology to put together a podcast to accompany this blog. I would absolutely love to have some of my friends on as guests. I could talk to the Josser in Montana about flyfishing and politics, my friend Travis about U2, my old college buddy Buschy about crazy stuff, such as if he really did vote Libertarian or if he was fucking with me, or we could chat with Urbs about all things Urbach. No one else might be interested, but it would entertain the heck out of me. But, since my heroin and porn addiction takes too much of my time, I guess I will just share with you other people's podcasts that I enjoy. You can find all of these on iTunes, but I have also included links to their websites.

The Sports Guy Bill Simmons

Bill Simmons is a very entertaining sports writer, and he pulls some pretty interesting guests form the sports and entertainment industry for his show. Other than the excessive Boston coverage and Subway plugs, it is a really good podcast with interesting insights to the world of sports.

At the Movies with Peter Travers
Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers hosts a video podcast that covers the weekend's upcoming releases. He typically recommends one big budget and/or one indie movie to go see and tells you which movie to avoid like the plague. He is kind of a twat, but I typically like his reviews more than most critics.

Delta Park Gets Lost
Hosts Jason and Anna thoroughly analyze each episode and use audio clips from the shows to provide insights about everything Lost. They also are quite sarcastic and poke fun at many elements of the show.

The Adam Carolla Podcast
As expected, Adam Carolla's podcast is irreverent, crass, and full of f-bombs. Good stuff. He pulls some interesting guests from the entertainment industry and he likes to share his observations about topics such as wives treating their husbands like children or asshole neighbors.

Guitar Music Theory
After never playing an instrument for my entire life, I decided to take up the guitar a couple years ago. It is hard learning about the guitar without any visuals, but Desi Serna does a good job of explaining things. He also has videos on his website for beginners (which I am, but I like the podcast too).

I like the sound of that, "All things Urbach". You may be on to something there. AND EVERYONE would be interested!

I wasn't fucking with you.
I took a blind test given by one of the local JuCo's at the state fair that identified which political party your beliefs most matched. I was / am Libertarian. The Libertarian mantra is really simple, along the lines of people need to take care of themselves, and don't tell me what to do. If I want education, I'll pay for it, if I want health care, I'll pay for it, if I want to be able to pay for it, I'll get a job that allows me to pay for the shit I want.
Obviously there are somethings that we need to pay for as a collective, but most things could get phased out over time.
It was obvious that Obama was going to win the election, had I thought that there was any question as to who the eventual victor was going to be I would have thrown my vote to either him or McCain, most likely Obama. But it felt good to vote my gut and support Barr who really had great ideas, just nobody would listen. I know it was essentially "throwing my vote away" but like I said, it didn't matter anyway.
So nothing about Brandon Marshall?

I could also listen to Urbs all day long. I have always believed that he would be a reality TV star. For some reason I could see the movie "Ed TV" coming to life here. Maybe we start this on YouTube and have the first episode be "Man Camp". You know the stories, quotes, and philosophies will be numerous and frequent. I know I still laugh about "No fish in the creek", “Dutch oven cake making for dummies”, and "Theory of craping out doors....to lean or hug the tree". Unfortunately I missed I missed last year and didn’t get to experience Voltron.

Anonymous,
After this weekend, I can guess of at least one person who might not be interested All Things Urbach. But I still think it would be fun.

Buschy,
I respect your choice to vote for a third party candidate. Was the test that they gave you a ten question quiz, with five questions on social issues and five on economic issues? I think I have taken the same one. I think that, as you call it, the Libertarian mantra, is a good philosophy for political thinking. However, I also think that it would be a terrible form of governance. But, that is just my opinion. Also, I don't think that the Broncos will trade Marshall. They can wait it out with him, unlike the Cutler situation.

Herald,
I gotta say, with all of the crappy ass reality shows out there, you may be on to something. However, I just don't think that an Urbs reality show would have the slutty/sexy factor that most TV execs look for.

Yo NHS! First off - I can dig on some of the Libertarian mantra, but for the most part it's a movement of people who are cheap and incompassionate (or just selfish). Also - I like a good road to drive on and taxes pay for that. So I'm for roads, and road taxes. Let's keep this economy chuckin' along.
Next - Reading the NY times tonight and came across this article from your butt-bud Bono. Not bad...he's no journalist, but it's got some weight to it. Read on:
