Guantanamo

Does it bother anyone else that the US has held "unlawful combatants" at the military detention center in Guantanamo for over three years without a trial? Now, the United Nations has issued a report calling Guantanamo a "torture camp".

The terrorists in Cuba are dangerous. We can't let them out or else they will organize another attack on the United States. If they wouldn't have joined a terrorist organization, they wouldn't be have been captured.

Would you please re-read what you just wrote? I believe in a little thing called justice. And that involves a trial to determine the guilt or innocence of someone accused of a crime.

vengence / justice -- does it really matter as long as the bad guys go away?

Boy, some people really don't have a clue. These individuals are held on US soil. Ammendment 6 - In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
If you claim that shouldn't be tried in the US, then send them back to Afganistan for trial. holding individuals indefinitely without a trial in situations that are considered paramount to torture is not what the United States of America is about. Maybe under leaders like Stalin or Pinochet that was acceptable, but not for this country.

I wonder how anxious Jack Carter would be to get back a couple thousand US soldiers if they were being held on foreign soil in what are now being called "Torture Camps" if said soldiers had been held for 3 years without a trial, charges or sign that things will be progressing. It's always easier to ignore it when it isn't our "guys." Send me your address, Jack, I'll send you a dollar, and you can go buy a f*cking clue.

If they're guilty, they can go to jail. If they're innocent, they should be able to go home. Either way they should be tried in a fair court. It's what you and I would get.
