A Little Accountability

As those of you who read this blog know, I have some major issues with the current lack of accountability in our Federal government. Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold has similar issues with government and announced that he will introduce a resolution in the U.S. Senate today to censure the President of the United States.

Censure is a congressional procedure for reprimanding the President of the United States or a member of Congress for inappropriate behavior. It is formal way of stating that an individual screwed up and actions need to be taken to correct those screw ups. Feingold's intention is to bring awareness to the NSA wiretapping and produce measures to protect the civil liberties of US citizens.

Give your Senator a call to let him know if you agree with Feingold.

Just called both Senators' offices - Neither is taking a stand yet, though the Allard guy said that he would most likely vote against it, and both staffers I spoke with were not very informative. It makes me feel a little insignificant - We elect these guys and then they are gone for 6 years and the people on the other end of the phone basically just say "OK" and write down your comments.
