Evangelical Leader Scandal

In a weird coincidence, my previous post quoted Rev. Tim Haggard, now ex-president of the National Association of Evangelicals, commenting on global warming. I was midly surprised when I read the news this past week that he is accused of having a three year relationship with a male prostitute who also sold him methamphetamine. According to the Denver Post, an apology was read to the congregation of New Life Church Sunday morning, in which Ted Haggard confessed to sexual immorality and described himself as "a deceiver and a liar." Some of you may not have realized that Mr. Haggard is also an advisor to President Bush. According to Harper's Magazine, Haggard speaks (spoke) with Bush or his advisors on a weekly basis via a conference call with other Christian leaders.
