STS

I have Short Timer Syndrome. Since I have put in my two weeks notice, I have had a very difficult time staying focused and motivated at work. There's loads of work for me to wrap up before I go, and I have tried to do my best to complete it. My own personal satisfaction is the only true justification for completing the work, as I don't want to leave anything behind half finished. Despite STS, I haven't had much time during these last two weeks to work on posts for this blog. I am working on an end of the year music review, which should be finished before 2008. Plus, I might have a sports post or a political post to put up soon. In the meantime, there has been an 80s kick (emails, YouTube) in the office lately, so I thought I would share with you one of my favorites clips.

You might have seen this before, but it is funny enough to watch again.

Big News

This morning was pretty wild for me. I turned in my resignation at the company I have been working at for the past (almost) nine years. It is with both excitement and some nervousness that I have decided to take a job as a Process Optimization Specialist (yes, I really will be a POS) with the City's water treatment plant. The job will involve coming up with solutions to more effectively and efficiently treat drinking water. I think this will be a new challenge for me. Wish me luck!

Friday Links

I decided to post some links to help you count down the hours until the weekend. In the comments to the previous post, Amy reminded me about the Muppets and John Denver singing the "12 Days of Christmas". Of course, I found it on YouTube and decided to post it here.

While on YouTube, I ran across another childhood memory.

Also, for those of you who hate Nickelback as much as me, here is a link for you.

Happy Holidays

Last weekend we had our annual Christmas celebration in downtown Denver with a group of close friends. The evening started with drinks at the Peaks Lounge in the Hyatt. The Peaks Lounge is on the 27th floor and has great views of Denver and the mountains. It also gave us a (warm) birds eye view of the Parade of Lights. From there, we headed to Buca Di Beppo for more drinks, food, and a white elephant gift exchange. The gift exchange is typically the highlight of the party, and this year was no exception. The Ace Hi Tavern t-shirt with accompanying gift certificate for a back rub (including a happy ending this year) from Joe Kuter showed up again. For the second year another t-shirt with Kuter's picture was a gift. The t-shirt featured a picture of a bearded Kuter in a chicken dance pose with the words, "Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me" printed on it. After dinner, some of us headed back to the Peaks Lounge for more chat and drinks. The weekend put me in the holiday mood, so I thought I would put together a Christmas music mix to share with all of you. Merry Christmas!
